Featuring all the classic Rocky Road flavours – creamy chocolate and gooey marshmallows – these combine with a simple French Toast and make something truly delicious.

Rocky Road

Rocky Road – or Tiffin as it’s sometimes called in the UK – is a no-bake dessert usually made by combining melted milk chocolate and mini marshmallows, and sometimes some other ingredients like cherries and biscuits, and then chilled in the fridge to set before being sliced up into square pieces. Many of us will probably know this from our childhood, as a sweet treat at school, after school or at bake sales.

How we’ve brought together these two classics in our Rocky Road French Toast recipe is by simply using the Burger Buns to make an easy French Toast – dipping the bread into a beaten egg mixture, then fried on both sides. Then, while the French Toast is still warm, adding chocolate chips and mini marshmallows onto the base so that it melts and goes slightly gooey.

Served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a chocolate flake crumbled on top, this Rocky Road French Toast is certain to please even the most sweet-toothed members of your household!

French Toast Rocky Road on Burger Bun

Ingredients

  • 6 Baker Street Burger Buns
  • 2 free range eggs
  • 200ml double cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp caster sugar
  • Oil and a knob of butter for frying
  • Vanilla ice cream (or flavour of your choice)
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Chocolate chips and chocolate flakes

Steps

  1. Beat the eggs, double cream, vanilla extract and sugar in a large shallow bowl.
  2. Heat a large frying pan over medium heat and add a tiny splash of oil and a tiny knob of butter.
  3. Dip two of the Burger Buns into the egg mixture, submerging them for a few seconds, then allow the excess to drip off before frying gently for a few minutes on each side in the pan. Transfer to a warm plate, and repeat with the rest of the buns, adding a little more oil and butter to the pan.
  4. Add some mini marshmallows and chocolate chips to the base of each warm Burger Bun then add a scoop of ice cream on top. Crumble over some chocolate flake and serve with the lids on the side.
