Ultimate Breakfast Hot Dog

Hot dogs, for breakfast? What an egg-cellent idea! Try these jumbo-sized hot dogs out for a treat breakfast or brunch.

Who says you can’t have hot dogs for breakfast? Well not us! Using Baker Street’s Jumbo Hot Dog Rolls, we have created the Ultimate Breakfast Hot Dog!

Perfect for those mornings when you want a hearty breakfast, with a sausage wrapped in an omelette and served in a hot dog roll with plenty of ketchup and a sprinkle of herbs, we think this dish is the best start to the day! And all of these hearty ingredients work perfectly in our Jumbo Hot Dog Rolls – just make sure you toast the roll before adding the ingredients.

To make a vegetarian or vegan alternative

Cook your favourite meat-free sausages instead, make a vegan omelette alternative and make sure you use vegetable-based oils and butter instead.

Ingredients

  • 2 Baker Street Jumbo Hot Dog Rolls
  • 4 chipolata sausages
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp water
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 tbsp chopped chives
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp butter
  • Tomato ketchup

Steps

  1. Cook the chipolata sausages according to the pack instruction. Keep warm whilst you cook the eggs
  2. Beat the eggs with a tablespoon of cold water in a jug and season with a little salt, pepper and chives (leaving some chives to garnish)
  3. Heat a medium sized non-stick frying pan over medium heat and add a drizzle of oil and a small knob of butter. When the butter has melted, pour in the egg mixture. As it starts to cook, gently pull in the cooked egg away from the sides towards the middle of the pan with a small wooden spoon or spatula. Continue until the omelette is just cooked then turn off the heat. Slide onto a board and cut in half
  4. Whilst cooking the eggs, warm up the Jumbo Hot Dog Rolls in the oven according to the pack instructions
  5. Take two chipolatas and lay them on one half of the omelette and roll up. Repeat with the rest of the omelette and chipolatas.
  6. Open the warm rolls and add a generous dollop of ketchup, then add the omelette wrapped chipolatas
  7. Sprinkle with a few more chives and serve
