We have exciting news Bread Heads! Baker Street has just renewed its partnership with the Vegetarian Society, to bring you vegetarian and vegan approved products.

What is the Vegetarian Society?

Vegetarian Society

The Vegetarian Society is a great organisation that aims to inspire, inform and enable people to be vegetarian. They also do amazing work as a charity, such as working with other charities and community groups to provide cookery classes to those who wouldn’t normally have access to them, as well as throughout the pandemic sending meals to families across the UK who rely on food banks.
If you would like more information on the Vegetarian Society check out their website www.vegsoc.org.

Vegetarian Recipe Ideas for National Vegetarian Week

Now with our new partnership we are super excited for National Vegetarian Week coming up next week (10th-16th May)! Here at Baker Street HQ we are going to take on the Veggie 123 challenge and try to go veggie for one week. Look out for our blog post in a couple of weeks, where we will let you know how we got on.

Fancy taking on the challenge too? Go to www.nationalvegetarianweek.org for more information on how to get involved.

Mega Breakfast Sub

Vegetarian Recipe Ideas Mega Breakfast Sub

Start the day of right with this mega breakfast sub. Simply fill a Baker Street Jumbo Hot Dog Roll with some halloumi, veggie sausages, fried mushrooms and tomatoes. Don’t forget to add some red or brown sauce (we’ll let you decide which) and of course serve it up with a cuppa.

Grilled Cheese and Beetroot Toastie

Vegetarian Recipe Ideas Cheese and Beetroot Toastie

Take your grilled cheese up a notch by having goats’ cheese and feta with beetroot, spinach and chilli jam. All you need to do is drizzle some slices of Baker Street Rye Bread with olive oil, stick your cheesy ingredients, veggies and jam inside (olive oil on the outside), heat up in a griddle pan on each side and enjoy!

Meatless Sub

Vegetarian Recipe Ideas Meatless Sub

This meatball sub is an absolute corker that’s 100% vegan. All you need to do is heat up your veggie meatballs with a tomato marinara sauce – you can use a ready-made sauce or knock up your own. Pile your meatballs and sauce into a Baker Street Jumbo Hot Dog Roll and sprinkle with your choice of vegan cheese. Mega meatball sub sorted.

Plant Power Sarnie

Vegetarian Recipe Ideas Plant Power Sarnie

Get a boost of plant-based power with this fully loaded vegan sarnie. Start with some Baker Street Rye & Wheat Bread and fill it with roasted chickpeas, avocado, onions, olives, pepper and spinach. Top it off with some roasted seeds and drizzle with your favourite sauce.

These bread-based alternatives are the perfect way to satisfy those pizza cravings. Top a slice of Baker Street Rye Bread with a tomato passata base, cherry tomatoes, basil, olives and pepper. Drizzle some olive oil and add a sprinkle of chilli flakes before putting under the grill for a couple of minutes. Ta-dah, a simple pizza alternative.

Pulled Jack Veggie Burger

Vegetarian Recipe Ideas Pulled Jack Burger

This has got to be one of our favourite burgers yet. Pulled jack fruit, slaw, piccalilli and some lettuce all inside a Baker Street Burger Bun. Yummy!

Veggie Burger

Vegetarian Recipe Ideas Spiced Burger

For these veggie burgers we’ve used sweet potato bhaji burgers (although you can use whatever kind of veggie burger you like). Using our Baker Street Burger Buns, top the burger with some grilled haloumi, bit o’ salad and spicy salsa.

We couldn’t share our favourite vegetarian recipe ideas without taking a look at our veggie oddball combinations:

Super Noodle Toastie

Oddball Combo Supernoodle Toasty

Who doesn’t love doubling up on carbs? This toastie is super easy to make – simply toast some Baker Street Sliced Loaf, place your cooked noodles inside (just make sure they are suitable for vegetarians!) and then enjoy!

Scrambled Egg and Peanut Butter Bagel

Oddball Combo Peanut Butter and Scrambled Egg

Okay bear with us on this one Bread Heads, but scrambled egg and peanut butter make an egg-celent combo. We’ve used our Baker Street Soft Bagels to make this oddball creation that will make the perfect breakfast bap.

Cheese and Nutella Toasted Burger

Oddball Combo Cheese and Nutella

Chocolate and cheese are two of our favourite things, so why not put them together? Smothering a Baker Street Burger Bun in Nutella, before layering on the cheese, we’ve used blue cheese here but any kind of cheese works, from brie to cheddar. Place the top bun on top before grilling until the cheese has melted. Yum!
