Make way for these MEGA Crunchy Coated Burgers! To add a little something extra to your burgers, why not try this Crunchy Coated Burgers recipe.

Using cornflakes, egg and flour, you can turn any normal burger patty – either homemade or pre-made – into something extra tasty with a coating that will add extra crunch in every bite!

To add to the crunchiness of this recipe, we’ve used our Mega Seeded Burger Buns. The sesame seeds on top of the buns will add another crunchy texture to this dish, plus, we recommend toasting our burger buns before adding in any ingredients to them so that they’re perfect for serving your Crunchy Coated Burgers inside, along with any extra toppings you fancy.

While we’ve suggested to oven cook these burgers, you could also cook them in an air fryer – they’ll cook a bit quicker, but all appliances vary so do check the manual for your own air fryer and during cooking.

Somebody Cooking In The Kitchen

You could also use different meat if you’re making the burger patties – minced meat tends to work better when adding in extra ingredients into the patties and shaping them. But you could opt for minced chicken, pork or turkey instead for this Crunchy Coated Burgers recipe.

Ingredients

  • 4 Baker Street Mega Seeded Burger Buns
  • 700g lean minced beef
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • Pinch salt and pepper
  • 2 free range eggs
  • 3 tbsps plain flour
  • 120g cornflakes
  • Spray olive oil (or oil and a brush)
  • 3-4 tbsps mayonnaise
  • 2 tsps chopped chives
  • 1 little gem lettuce
  • 2 large ripe tomatoes, sliced

Steps

  1. Place the minced beef in a large bowl and add the oregano and a good pinch each of salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly with clean hands then divide into 4 evenly sized balls. Press the balls into large patties, just slightly bigger than the size of the rolls.
  2. Preheat the oven to 170°C fan / 190°C conventional /Gas Mark 5.
  3. Crack the eggs into a large shallow bowl and beat with a fork. Put the cornflakes in another bowl and the flour into a third bowl, or on a large plate.
  4. Carefully coat the burger patties in the flour first, then add to the beaten egg mixture and make sure they’re coated all over. Finally, place into the bowl with the cornflakes and coat well. Repeat with all the burgers.
  5. Place the burgers onto a baking tray then spray them lightly with a little oil (or lightly brush with a little oil) and cook in the oven for about 30 minutes until golden and cooked through.
  6. Meanwhile, mix the mayonnaise and chives in a bowl and prepare the salad. When the burgers are ready, lightly toast the buns then spread a little mayo onto each base. Add a few lettuce leaves and some tomato slices, then top with a crunchy burger and another dollop of the mayo before popping on the burger bun lids.
